Traveling Thoughts and Thoughts on Traveling

When Planning A Trip…

May 20, 2008 – 9:13 pm

I’m planning a trip right now.

Not sure where exactly I’ll go, but I’m pretty much confined to North America, more for financial reasons than lack of time this time around.

Not sure when exactly, but it’ll be sometime in June before I start my new work.

Where to go…

I get the following a lot: “Terry, get to the point already!”

Well, here’s the point: Every time I know I’ll be going on a trip soon, I get so excited about browsing Kayak for ticket prices, checking whether I have enough miles to get a free seat on a flight within the US or even abroad, and figuring out in which order I should notify my friends if I happen to have a few contacts in the few destinations between which I’m trying to decide to go.

So I’ve procrastinated all day on my blog.

Which is why you’re reading this seemingly insubstantial entry right now.

But wait. There’s more.

If you’re reading my blog, chances are, you’re either a fellow traveler or someone interested in traveling. When you’re planning a trip, doesn’t it just consume your every thought? You get lazy at work. The workplace becomes exponentially dull. You’re more preoccupied with planning which historical sites to visit or which bars to hit up once you get to location than with figuring out what you’re going to put on the dinner table tonight.

Yeah, that feeling.
